The Band Hennessy is an alternative Rock band from Houston, TX, USA.
They came together in 2013 as The Band Hennessy after years of singing in the cover music scene. In 2014 Heather Miller joined, after the others caught a few of her performances with her previous band.
Ashley Hennessy: “We just knew that our sound and performances would go to another level with her as a co-lead vocalist. You don’t see many current bands led vocally by two females. It sets us apart, makes us different, and really adds an awesome dimension to our music.”
The Band Hennessy already has three singles out right now, all of which you can download on iTunes.
They are also pretty busy bees and have a ton of shows coming up in the near future! If anyone wants updates on where and when they are playing next, check out their schedule on the official website.
When and why did you start making music?
Christian Weigand: I started playing guitar and writing music around 1985. I just picked it up naturally… took lessons for about 10 years from Gaston Robau.
Ashley Hennessy: We have all been writing, composing, etc. for years. But as The Band Hennessy, our first single, I’ve Been Broken Before, was written in 2013 and released in 2014.
When you find your sound as a band, and find that perfect fit of different personalities and influences… things just work. We are one big family.
Live or studio, what suits you best?
Ashley: The studio is ridiculously fun. It’s an experience all on its own. But don’t get me wrong, it’s a lot of work.
Our live shows are really our forte. If you know how to truly entertain a crowd and keep their attention, keep the energy flowing, and sing every note perfectly… that is how you gain and keep your fan base. You wouldn’t be disappointed if you were standing in the audience during our shows.
Christian: I like both actually…doesn’t matter which… I play the same. Composing is my favorite part of a music production, though.
Which works are you most proud of?
Christian: Probably the big show we played last August at the Revention Center in Houston. And the two songs we recorded in Nashville… Cyanide and Face That You See.
What is the most important skill required – besides talent – to become a successful musician?
Christian: The ability to listen. To fans… to fellow musicians…
Ashley: Be personable. I know that deep down most musicians are introverted extroverts. But your ability to connect with your fans on a personal level is extremely important. Take every picture, sign every autograph, get to know the people who support you. And be humble. That will set you apart.
What is your current project?
Christian: We want to record an album… we have lots of original material!
Ashley: Yes, we will be announcing our crowd-funding campaign very soon in order to complete our studio album. Our main priority is to complete our album and set a release date, and give our team the best of our music to market and promote within the best radio markets we can touch.
We have a lot of amazing things in the works, and we can’t wait to tour once the album is released!
