Artist of the Week is EMANUEL GRAND from Vienna, Austria!

“GRANDios :-)

“I love the music. Waiting is my favorite song!”

„Er ist nicht nur hübsch, nein, er hat auch noch Intellekt!“ / (“He is not only cute, no, he also has brains!”)

“Rock on! Awesome guy, awesome music!”

„Emi du bist einfach super!“ / (“Emi you’re simply the best!”)

“Great stuff, really love it!”

Emanuel Grand is a guitar player and singer who played in several Rock/Punk/Metal bands. At the moment he is front man of the band somephoenics.

In 2012 he decided to record all his acoustic singer-songwriter songs that were not well suited for his band projects.

What happened?

Eventually, besides my rock songs, it was time to record and release the quiet, acoustic ones… so I decided to produce my first solo album.

Here in Austria?

In September 2012 I took a flight to Los Angeles. Together with my best friend Thomas Kloiber and Peggy Glenn, a professional lyric writer, we set the cornerstones for the album there.

Peggy is an exceptionally gifted lyricist and she also helped with her English mother tongue. Thomas produced and refined the album with his heart and soul. I’m incredibly thankful to both of them for helping me fulfill this little dream of mine.

Waiting was released in February 2013. The first single was also called Waiting and I made a funny music video based on the lyrics.

Waiting is available on iTunes.

What are you working on at the moment?

At the moment I’m working on the next somephoenics album. We already released the new single Scream in October 2015 – with a funny video, too.

What comes next?

The next singles to be released from the album Waiting will be I Never Knew What Love Was and Rewarding. The latter will compete for the Radio Wien challenge Summerhit 2016.
